How do I get started with VaultScrub?

Download VaultScrub from the Download page, install it, and open the app. The setup wizard will guide you through selecting folders and adding personal information to redact.

My documents aren't being detected. What should I do?

Make sure your documents are in PDF or common image format (PNG, JPG, TIFF). Check that the folder path is correct in Settings → Documents. VaultScrub will automatically scan for supported files.

Does VaultScrub work offline?

Yes. All features — OCR, PII detection, and redaction — work completely offline. No internet connection is required.

Can I recover the original text after redaction?

Redacted PDFs contain permanent black boxes over sensitive information. Your original files are never modified — redacted copies are saved in a separate Sanitized folder.

How do I activate my Pro license?

After purchasing, you'll receive a license key by email. Go to Settings → About in VaultScrub and enter your key. License validation is 100% offline.

Is my data safe?

VaultScrub processes everything locally. Documents never leave your computer. Personal data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. No telemetry or analytics are collected. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
