VaultScrub

Desktop Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 26, 2026

1. Our Commitment to Privacy

The VaultScrub desktop app processes document content locally on your device. The website, desktop purchases, update downloads, and support communications involve network services as described below; they are distinct from local document processing.

2. Data Processing

All document processing — including OCR text extraction, PII detection, and PDF redaction — happens entirely on your device. Your original documents never leave your computer.

  • Documents are read from and saved to your local filesystem only
  • OCR processing runs locally using on-device machine learning models
  • Redaction patterns are matched locally without any network calls

3. Data Storage

  • Application settings and preferences are stored locally on your device
  • You can delete all stored data at any time from Settings

4. Analytics & Telemetry

The desktop application does not collect any usage analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or tracking data. We have no insight into how you use the application.

5. Auto-Updater

If automatic update checks are enabled, VaultScrub periodically checks for new versions by requesting a version manifest from GitHub. The update host receives normal network request information, such as an IP address, when serving an update check or download. Document content is not included. You can disable automatic update checks in Settings → General.

6. Third-Party Services

  • Stripe — Used for license purchases. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe; VaultScrub does not process or store payment information.
  • Update and download hosts — Serve release files and version information and receive ordinary network request information; no document content is uploaded.

Website visits and support

This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to measure visits and page usage. Website hosting services process request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to serve and secure the site. This website measurement is not included in the native iPhone or iPad app.

Desktop checkout uses Stripe. Purchase information needed for license fulfillment is handled through the checkout and license-delivery services. If you email support, we receive your address and anything you choose to include. We use support messages to respond and troubleshoot; please avoid sending sensitive originals. Contact support@vaultscrub.com to request deletion of support information, subject to applicable record-retention obligations.

See Vercel’s privacy policy and Stripe’s privacy policy for their practices.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the application and on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of VaultScrub after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
